Mother Bustle made delicious currant buns. Every Saturday she would bake them and then keep them on the windowsill to cool.
For some days her buns had been going missing.
‘Who could be stealing mu buns?’ she wondered.
Then Mother Bustle had an idea. The next time she baked buns she spread some strong magic glue on them. She then put these on the windowsill as usual. After some time windowsill was as usual. After some time when Mother Bustle checked her buns two of them were gone. But she was no longer worried.
In the afternoon, Mother Bustle’s brother, Plod-Along came to meet her. On the way, he met Grumple Goblin, Mother Bustle’s neighbour.
‘Good afternoon! he said. ‘How do you do!’
Plod-Along shook hands with Grumple and then to their horror they found that they couldn’t pull away their hands!
‘Hey! What’s this Leave my hand! Don’t be silly, Grumple, pulling hard. Óh, it hurts! Our hands are stuck! ‘
Mother Bustle was surprised to see the two coming hand in hand. When Plod-Along explained the problem to his sister, Mother Bustle cried, ‘I think I know where that sticky magic came from. Grumple, did you steal my buns?’
Grumple admitted that he stole the delicious buns.
Mother Bustle poured some magic water over his hands and away went the stickiness at once! ‘Let this be a lesson, Grumple! And remember this if ever I think you’re taking things that don’t belong to you again you did today!’ said Mother Bustle.
Mother Bustle still puts her currant buns out on her windowsill to cool but since that time, Grumple doesn’t dare to go near them!
