Jason was the real king of Iolcus. When he was a young boy, Pelias, his uncle, took away the throne from his father.
When Jason grew up, he went to Iolcus to get back his throne.
“Get me the Golden Fleece if you want the throne,” said Pelias. The Golden Fleece was the fleece of a ram which had wings and magical powers. The fleece was in a city called Colchis.
Jason sailed to Colchis and met King Aeetes. “I’ve come for the Golden Fleece,” Jason told him.
“You can have it only if you finish two tasks,” said Aeetes. “First, you must tame two bulls ad use them to dig a field. Then, you must sow dragons, teeth in the field.”

Now, Aeetes’daughter, Medea, wanted to help Jason. “Take this magic potion,” said. “The bulls won’t harm you.
At dawn, Jason drank the potion. He neared the bulls and they ran towards him. They had sharp horns and breathed fire. Suddenly, they stopped and stared at him. He held the bulls gently and made them sit down. Then he dug the field himself. King Aeetes was not pleased, but he gave Jason the dragons’ teeth sow in the field.
Jason had sown all of them by sunset. Suddenly, he saw soldiers growing out of the ground from the places where he had sown the teeth!
Jason quickly hid. The angry soldier threw the stone at another soldier. Soon, the soldiers began to fight with each other. They forgot about Jason!
King Aeetes was very angry to see that his plan had not worked.
“Tomorrow, you must fight the great snake that guards the Golden Fleece,” he told Jason.
Then Aeetes called his soldiers. “Tonight, stand around Jason’s ship. Do not let him leave the ship,” he said.
Medea told Jason her father’s plan. “Then we must get the fleece now,” said Jason. “Let us hide the ship.”
Then he followed Medea into the woods. Soon, They came to a big oak tree.
The Golden Fleece hung from its branches. The large snake in front of it hissed and bared its fangs.

“Don’t worry,” said Medea. She began to sin softly, the snake fell asleep. Jason then climbed the tree and took down the fleece. Then he and Medea ran back to the ship. And in the darkness of the night, before the king’s soldiers could see them, Jason sailed towards Iolcus.
